How can I go to Asia to train in the martial arts?
I'm on a gap year, and I'm trying to do interesting things. Do you guys know of any ways I can go to some part of Asia and train in a martial art? I'd live there for a while, and money really isn't an issue. P.S. I've been doing Taekwondo for five years, so I have a little experience.

Find a training hall. Ask if you may train with them. Keep trying until you get a yes (or a "hai", or a "shi de", or a "ye", or a "ya", or a "chı̀", or a "vâng", or some other way of saying yes).

You can train in Kung Fu in China: http://www.wushuschool.com/ You can train Tai Chi in China: http://chenbing.org/english/house.php You can contact them through their website if you are interested. This is Korean SunMuDo http://sunmudo.net/?page_id=2&lang=jp Wudang http://www.wudanggongfu.com/ I imagine there is something for TaekWonDo too. Just don't have the connections in that area. Sorry.

I'm currently in Thailand training Muay Thai and I'd recommend it to anyone. There are plenty of schools to choose from and all the instructors that I've met have had atleast 50+ fights each, so they know what they're doing. The people here are so friendly and the weather is beautiful around this time of the year. If you need more convincing to train muay thai look at the sites below, theyll give you a good idea of what muay thai is about and theyll give you an idea of what its like living in Thailand (great)

Make sure u have money saved up and do some research on schools and a style u want to kearn. I know in China the schools accept foreign students. With only 1 year of training u will NOT completely learn a MA. It takes a few years to learn the full curriculum.
