What comes to mind when you think of Asia?
I think of the neon cities, lush landscape, vast culture, friendly people and the alluring, fascinating women. I know this a very positive view, and that there is a dark side to Asia just like any other continent. I am European not Asian though.

Asia is full of diversity. More so then Europe or any other continent. East asians look completely different than south asian which look different than middle easterners. north asians look white. It is so full of diversity and cultures

I think of a strange juxtaposition of technological advancement and poverty... Of the greatest beauty of nature apposed to the overpopulation and crowding of the neon cities... I think of intellectual freedom and personal restraint and repression. I guess it also depends on what part of Asia you are talking about... Poverty, communism, and oppression in China... Freedom, advancement, and beauty in Japan... The overflowing sex tourism trade in Thailand... You are talking about a HUGE chunk of the planet... Each part is totally distinct of the others...

Honestly, *the first* thing I think of is.... rice. *laughs* I can joke like that because I *am* Asian. ;) But that's just the first little thing that pops up. However, when I take into consideration "Asia" a little further, I consider a nation of hard workers, who cling to their vast religion and traditions; small nations who are growing and advancing rapidly into powerful nations (though China is not a small nation, it once was an underdeveloped nation, but look where it is today!). Someday, I'll go visit where I came from, with my sister. *sighs*

Chinese things. My fiance is Indian but I don't feel that he is 'Asian'. What I mean by that is, he's not mongaloid. Why are you so obsessed with Asia, anyway?
10 :
American influence but a counter American generation. I think of the sex trade, massive drug plantations with histories before the world wars.. impossible honor systems that still exist governments that hate Christianity but want it because the current religions rebelled against institutional demands. and they like the mandates that Christians render unto Caesar what is due. Exotic beauty disappearing...for tourists...intolerance indifference conformity and a lot of hidden truths....over written histories...and a ton of propaganda to control what the government and businesses want...

Chemical engineers will always be in demand because they are so essential in so many different industries. Chemical engineers are used in pharmaceutical, water, food and oil and gas industries to name a few. It depends here you get a job as to what the job scope is, I work in an office and do calculations and datasheets and occasionally go to site to see what I have designed and to commission it, whereas others work on a plant all day. As for salaries look at the attached links.

How did Europe come to be defined as a distinct entity, apart from, say, Asia or Africa?
The Creation of the West: Consider the formation of the geographical and ideological boundaries of Western Civilization. How did Europe come to be defined as a distinct entity, apart from, say, Asia or Africa? Consider both the political consolidation of Europe from ancient times through the Medieval period, and the ideological (and religious) constitution of European identity from the classical period through the Renaissance. To what extent was the idea of the West founded on an internal heritage, and to what extent did it depend upon the presence of populations defined as fundamentally alien?

If you're going to ask a question like this, at least TRY to make it look like it's not your homework. This is just sad.

I'm not European, I don't plan on being European, but my guess is it starts with geography. Europe lies West of the Urals in the Russian landscape, separating the Ukraine from the Eastern part of Russia. Languages are different, all a dialect from Latin which was prevalent under Roman rule (est 800BC to 400AD). The people are lighter skinned than the people in Asia and Africa, they have different religions as well.
