What Music Colleges In Asia Would You Reccomend?

What Music Colleges In Asia Would You Reccomend?
The countries would preferably be: India, Indonesia, Nepal, Tibet, Sri Lanka, but anywhere in Asia would be great! I would REALLY prefer the campus to be in an area without any, or very little western tourists. I play the guitar, and I would very much like to learn about eastern music. Thanks!

Thailand. Look up info in Krabi area. Just an idea

My personal preference would be: 1) Thailand 2) Philippines 3) Malaysia In that order It's not so much that Thailand has the best environment for DMs, but that compared to other SE Asian countries it is one of the better developed dive industries. You also have the option of diving West or East Coasts in Thailand, depending on the monsoon season. You also have a steady stream of tourists to keep the pipeline going. Malaysia is not as famous for their sites (and its a bit more expensive than Thailand). In my opinion getting to dive sites in the Philippines can be difficult because you have to either ferry or fly from island to island. This limits your clientele base. Japan and NZ are fantastic, but you might find the limited income of a DM to be tough going in those two countries. Your money will go further in Thailand. Shoot me a personal e-mail at gy_chiu at yahoo if you consider Thailand. I can recommend a contact who might be able to give you the info on a few dive operators.

A foreigner needs an employment "Z" visa to work in any Asian country. You must be sponsored for the visa by your employer and meet government mandated criteria. Find out about the income tax rules in advance. Some countries will have significantly steeper tax rates than you are used to. Also find out rules regarding re-patriation of assets to your home country. This isn't a problem from developed countries, like Japan and Australia, but is legally prohibited from many developing nations (Philippines, Vietnam, etc.) Good luck.

Did the Japanese stop the Whites from taking over East Asia like the Whites took over the Americas?

Did the Japanese stop the Whites from taking over East Asia like the Whites took over the Americas?
If it weren't for the Japanese, East Asia would have been another "North America continent" with countries like "United States" or "Canada".

More like Japan tried to take over Asian countries themselves and had to be nuked by the US to stop. Open a history textbook please.
2 :
Its quite likely. It shocked the western world when the Japanese defeated Russia in the Russo-Japanese war. I wish there was as decisive a battle that stopped them from conquering the Americas. Hello: 50 million people isn't a blank canvas. No real cities? What do you call Tenochtitlan? A city of 200,000, with temples, marketplaces, aquaducts, zoos, schools, garbagemen, ball game courts, and aquariums? Thats not a real city to you? The Mississippi Mound civilization? The Iroquios Confederacy, whose constitution the US constitution is based on? Learn history.
3 :
No. The process of colonisation in the Americas and Australia was because they were effectively empty except for primitive civilisation. Asian countries, even the ones conquered/subjugated, had cities (real cities, not a small village in the mountains) armies, governments etc. The Americas were effectively a blank canvas with some easily defeated and un-unified people there. Obviously now what Europeans did during that time is frowned upon but the sad and simple truth is if they hadn't democracy, human rights, electricity, railway etc, would not have spread and most of the world would be under the rule of kings and churches, dieing at the age of 20 from TB.
4 :
No, the most powerful nations at the time, the British Empire and the French Empire; had no interest in settling or colonising East Asia. China, for instance, was too big to control and had no significant products to control and sell, save for coal. That is why European powers built outposts throughout China after the Opium wars: Opium and coal. Russia did have some interest for warm water ports in Korea and Manchuria, but that was only for its trade and navy.
5 :
LOL. Is that what the are teaching in the Japanese history books?

You need to go to AA(Automobile Association. River Valley Road) and apply an International Driving Licence first.
2 :
Most Asian countries including Thailand and Singapore accept an International Drivers Permit which is used in conjunction with a valid license from your home country, China is one major exception. Here in Thailand you most likely could get by with your Singapore drivers license if pulled over for a ticket, but if you get in an accident, you better have an International Drivers Permit with you. They're easy enough to get, are cheap and don't require any tests, just a valid drivers license is all you need. Reputable car rental companies may also require that you have one. You can get one at an AA office in Singapore. http://www.drivers.com/article/937/

In singapore you can apply for a "Smart card" an international drivers license intended fo international license in asien countries only. I have one so I can go from Thailand to Laos. The smart card takes the place of my Thai drivers license. I am sure Singapore will be the same.

people always say you need an international drivers license, but i think thats all nonsense. i drive in Thailand all the time with nothing more than my California drivers license. i have been stopped by police 6 different times and not once have they ever asked me for any form of identification. not a drivers license, not a passport .... nothing. they tell me i was speeding and to give them 200 or 300 baht ($7-$10) ..... and im on my way. wish my tickets in the US were that cheap !!!!!!
