I myself is from Asia. I clearly know that overpopulation is a big problem for all the Asian people. First, less children or students can get good education because of overpopulation. Some students may be allowed to study at the university, and some may not. Second, the government may not able to cover health care for all the people, if there are too many people. e.g. in China, many people who do not have any regular job should pay the hospital by themselves, the government will not help these people. And of course, there are many more reasons. So, I hope my answer could help you a little bit.

What are the consequences of overpopulation in the world should be the question. What happens in Asia affects the rest of the world. The short answer is: humans consume resources to sustain life. The more humans exist, the more resources needed, thus worsening the competition for resources both domestically causing imbalance between the haves and have nots, and bilaterally, creating political tension and wars. This also cause massive immigration both legal or not from poor to rich countries. The effect on Earth, is that resources are consumed faster, producing ever higher pollution. Pollution rate is higher than the rate that earth can recycle them, thus permanently altering global climate, causing more natural disasters.

South Asia is the India region. So wat's this question doing under the China category? Anyway, China seems to have the answer for pop.control - the one child policy. Population does a lot of good too. It creates demand for goods and services and helps drive the economy. It's where country leaders fail to facilitate the huge population that a country becomes "over-populated". Do remember also that though developing countries have burgeoning populations, it's the developed countries that consume most of the world's resources.
