I can't think of any, unless you can give it to Mother Nature, for cleaning up her land. Like a volcano, clears Mother Nature's throat, to make new land. And Yes, it will get worse.

None really . . . Unless you like seeing millions die (Which i hope you don't!)

At first glance, there's evidently nothing positive at all in hundreds of ppl dying in a disaster. But I suppose that every natural disaster goes long way in making ppl aware of the fact that we cant just sit here n continue burning forests n adding more CO2 to the atmosphere every which way, which is ultimately the cause of many phenomenon like drought, floods, more powerful hurricanes n typhoons, heat waves(Of course, not earthquake-caused tsunamis). I think what we can learn is that mother Nature is definitely not going to let us go without a spanking...and we better learn fast.

the positive is that about 30 countries got together, implemented an early warning system so that it need not cost so many lives in the future.... becasue it will happen again...sad they could have done it before, but that's politics for you.....
