What country would cheaper to fly into if I want to travel throughout Asia?
I am planning to leave the U.S around October. November to travel around Asia but I am not quite sure which country would be cheaper to fly into as a start off point. Anywhere in Asia would be fine. Any ideas, suggestions and websites I can look into.

I would recommend either Singapore or Malaysia and they are kind of the central hub to most Asian countries. Also, Air Asia airlines and Tiger Airways offer heavily discounted flight tickets around Asia, so these two countries are definitely great starting points. But Singapore has become a little bit to modernize so you can't really fell the Asian sensation and surrounding but Malaysia they are mix with modern and old. Actually it depends on what you want to get during your trip in Asia. The cheapest place to get ticket as a hub for Asia will be Bangkok. But if you book online, anywhere in Asia will be fine but Malaysia will be the best as Air Asia flies to many destination in Asia as well to Australia and UK, so its better for you to fly to Malaysia and fly to rest of the Asia. As you are flying from US, this is rather difficult if you want take an non-stop flight, as flights with 1 stop-over can be cheaper. Fly into Malaysia by Malaysia Airline will be good, as well as North-West Airline or United Airline to Singapore or Malaysia is also great. Those are cheaper options and if not Delta or American Airline can be considered, depending on where you are taking your flight in US, as price defers place to place and may differ greatly even thru different airports near the same area (eg. Newark & JFK, both serve NYC).

Is it a good idea to go backpacking through Asia during this swine flu outbreak?
I have been planning a year-long backpacking trip through East and Southeast Asia but now that there is a swine flu outbreak, with predictions that in the next 2 years 2 billion people will probably be infected, I am wondering if it is such a good idea. I really want to do this though and have been waiting for a long, long time to do it. What do others think? Thoughts? Comments? Advice?

Which cities in Asia would give me the best chance of experiencing Asian culture?
I know there are different cultures through out Asia, but my opportunities to travel are few and I would like to get a feel for the Asian world view. Thanks.

Definitely Singapore. Singapore is clean, safe, modern, and advance Chinese, Malay, and Indian people live in Singapore. So, you can experience their food and culture. Also, English is spoken there, so you'll definitely have no communication problems. Singapore was known as "Instant Asia" in the past and you'll understand why.

There is no such thing as a single Asian culture; There is no such thing as a single Asian world view; It is very naive of you to think that there is. If you finished your holiday in an Asian country thinking that you've had some profound insight into "The Asian World View", you'd be stupid.
